ETİ KOEN
In 1990 Eti Koen attended Linda Robinson's classical patchwork classes at the Turkish-American University Association.
However, shortly after, she started looking for more. As part of her passion for Ottoman and Turkish patterns, she decided to seek ways of incorporating them to this new style. This experience helped her develop her technique, which is named as ' Fabric Fusion '. She chose Ottoman Miniature Art as her starting point, but then started creating original themes of her own. Traditional Motifs, Istanbul Views and Sepharadic Immigration are the samples of this unique work.
As a result of this experimental process, she opened her personal exhibitions and took part in joint exibitions as well.
By passing over her technique to her students, she is opening the doors for expressing Ottoman and Islamic motifs with different ways of using fabric.
